Resource advantage

    As a treasure of natural medicines, Xinjiang is rich in medical resources, and unique Chinese herbal and biological resources. Xinjiang hosts more than 2200 plant, animal and mineral resources of medicinal value. Among the 362 common Chinese herbal medicines in the key national census, Xinjiang hosts 104 kinds with its reserves accounting for more than 30% of China’s total, including 27 kinds of important influence. In Xinjiang, about 100 medicines - 150 medicines can be acquired all the year round, including more than 70 wild herbs in bulk, with an acquisition accounting for 90% of the total. Licorice, ephedra, cistanche, cynomorium songaricum, arnebiae, and fritillaria pallidiflora are herbs in bulk, with reserves of 1.5 million tons, including licorice reserves of 600,000 tons to 700,000 tons, accounting for 94% of China’s total and with its acquisitions accounting for 90% of China’s total, ephedra reserves of 680,000 tons with an annual acquisition ranking second in China. It has an annual output of wolfberry, safflower and herba cistanches of 8,000 tons, 916 tons and 5280 tons respectively. It hosts several dozen common herbs including snow lotus,  Xinjiang root of common peony, Xinjiang ligusticum sinense oliver, Xinjiang notopterygium, ferulic, spinosa, Xinjiang sealwort, Xinjiang codonopsis pilosula and artemisia rupestris. Xinjiang is the main distribution area of red deer, with its red der antler production accounting for about 10 % of China’s total.
    Xinjiang is rich in medicinal resources. It can be seen as an overall resource area with neighboring foreign countries, of great development and utilization value.     
    Rich medical resources in Xinjiang gave birth to unique Uyghur traditional Chinese medicine, and ethnic medicines such as Uyghur medicine and Kazakh medicine.  With large-scale Western Development, Xinjiang is transferring from natural herbs primitive use into modern development.
    Against Western Development, Xinjiang enterprises have huge development space. So far, the development idea has been proposed on the basis of local resources of “oil and cotton”.
